Case Study

Jim and Linda are a married couple living in north AL. They grow a large garden every year, producing foods such as tomatoes, okra, blueberries, blackberries, peppers, beans, and various other veggies. They preserve much of this, making jams and jellies, sauces, pickled veggies, and homemade wines. They generate much more than they consume themselves, and want to provide their surplus to the local market. They need a logo that they can use for the different products to show the various categories of foods and drinks, while maintaining an overall similar appearance so consumers can easily identify them as Jim and Linda’s fares. I wanted to design something that would illustrate the couple’s love for each other (they’ve been married for 43 years) as well as their love for gardening and sharing their bounty. I also wanted something that could easily transfer from one kind of product to another, without having to alter the logo itself. What I came up with was a simple combination of their first initials, separated by an ampersand in between. I added a little heart in the ampersand to illustrate the love aspect. I think this simple logo will transfer nicely to each of the products, easily adapting to the different images for each label.
